Designing a handoff packet that engineers actually open
By Mika Alvarez
Engineering-led buyers rarely complain about your PDF template. They complain when the first sales call repeats questions answered on the stand. A handoff packet should be boring on the surface: who they are, what they touched, what they asked to see next, and what you promised to send.
We teach teams to keep the packet under one page for internal routing. Anything longer becomes a shelf artifact. Attachments belong in a single folder link with predictable naming.
If your organization spans Korea and European plants, include time zone preferences and language preference explicitly. Small details reduce round trips.
The packet is a living habit. If leaders never ask for it in pipeline reviews, it will fade. Bake a single question into your meeting template: where is the packet for this conversation?
